WELDON SPRING — Troy Buchanan's Zoey Haney became a four-time Gateway Athletic Conference girls wrestling champion Saturday at Francis Howell.
She was a second-team All-Metro choice to cap her freshman (fifth at state) and sophomore (third at state) campaigns.
"People talk about last year, but we're trying to move forward,'' Howell Central coach Kurt Kruse said following his team's title celebration with the Spartans boys, who also won a GAC title Saturday.
Other GAC champs• Howell junior Mialee Copeland (22-5) pinned her way to the title at 105.
• At 135, Howell North junior Aubrey Peterson (11-4) won 9-7 over Fort Zumwalt East sophomore Lana Luu.
